10251 Vista Sorrento Parkway
San Diego, CA 92121
The layout for the cab interiors was designed by Smith Consulting Architects (SCA) of San Diego. In this elevator Karen Tom of SCA wanted to use an Arpa Laminate that is manufactured by Interlam. The material is “Irridescent LT Grey Burl” with a Gloss Finish #1857. This material was installed directly on the cab wall, with the surrounding area being proud of the inset material. The original panel surround material was to be a Chemetal “Brushed Pewter Aluminum”, however due to the type of use this elevator would see, we recommended the use of Stainless Steel sheet. The new base matches the panel surround material and is Satin Stainless Steel. A new handrail was installed at the rear of the elevator, in order to comply with current ADA requirements. The panel surround, chair rail, and base material are all offset from each other 1/8” in order to capture the ends, and have no exposed edges. The Stainless Steel #8 Mirror polished ceiling was retained.
