The layout for the cab interiors was designed in conjunction with Warren Sheets & Associates Inc. and Sterling Corporate. In these elevators the architect the classic look of rich wood panels that would complement the buildings interior finishes. The wall panels are made from a combination of Mahogany veneer and hardwood moldings. The molding surrounding the inset materials had to be custom made in order to endure the rigors of the harsh salt air found in La Jolla. This molding is specially designed to allow the expansion and contraction of the wood panels by 3/16” while maintaining the integrity of the panels. On the sidewalls the upper inset material is manufactured by Robert Allen and upholstered to a wall panel that is removable in the event that it is damaged. On the rear wall, the upper inset material is ¼” thick “Clear” mirror with a ¾” wide bevel around the perimeter. The handrails are Bronze #4 Julius Blum extruded shape handrail that has been modified to use in the elevator, along with Julius Blum handrail brackets. The ceiling is Mahogany veneer, utilizing the same hardwood moldings that are used on the panels, with one section removable in order to access the escape hatch. Lighting was provided by the customer.
